「CATCH」に秘められた想い

　--- ユキンコアキラさんの公式ホームページの入り口は「ENTER」ではなく「CATCH」となっていますね。

「似顔絵を描くとき『キャッチ！』って言ってるんですけど、最初のころはそんなこと言ってなかったんです。３年くらい前かな、代々木公園でパフォーマンスしてるときに自然に出てきたんです」

　--- 自然に？

「そう。すごくニコニコして見ている男の人がいて、彼を見てると僕もテンション上がってきて、つい『キャッチ！』って言っちゃったんですよ。そしたらドカンと盛り上がった。あとで考えてみると『キャッチ！』ってすごくいい言葉だなって」

　--- 「CATCH」って捕まえるって意味ですよね。どこが気に入ったんですか？

「相手がいないと成立しない言葉じゃないですか。僕だけじゃなくて相手も感じること。一方的じゃない。ホームページの入り口を『CATCH』にしているのは、ホームページに来る人って、僕の情報なり絵なりを見たいから来てくれている、『CATCH』しようとしてるわけですよね。そして、僕も、僕のことを『CATCH』して欲しい。
今の僕にとって何にでも当てはまる言葉だから、よく使うんです」

　--- なるほど、そう言われてみるといい言葉ですね。観客と同じ目線であろうとするユキンコアキラさんの姿勢がよく分かります。

「僕のことを見て下さってる方のことは、すごく大事に思っています。だからこそ、いつも全力でパフォーマンスしています。事前にパフォーマンスの内容を決めることはないですね。用意しているのは本気の魂だけ。あとはもう描き始めないと分からない」

　--- お客さんとのジャムセッションみたいな感じ？

「近いかもしれませんね。その日、その時じゃないと、どんな人が来ているか分からない。天気も違うし、僕の気分もある。そんな状況のなかでパフォーマンスすることがすごく楽しい」

　--- 炎天下のなかでのリズムペインティングは重労働ですよね。

「めちゃくちゃ暑い日とか、描くの嫌だなって思うこともありますよ（笑）。でも、それもリアルなんじゃないかと思うんですよね。熱さで倒れそうになっても描く。倒れてしまって、それで絵が完成しなかったとしても、そのときの自分でいいかなって」
