6/15に発売された『―どこでもいっしょ―レッツ学校！』は、これまでの『どこいつ』シリーズをさらにパワーアップさせた意欲作。話題の「アフィリエイト」の概念をゲームに取り込んだり、今までになかった新イベント「コスプレ」で楽しめたり。もちろん意外な裏ワザも？ そこで、読者のために、さらにずずずいっと踏み込んで伺った。
『レッツ学校』の新たな試みのひとつに、「一日先生体験」というものがある。ソフトを持っていない友達にも、体験ゲームをおすそ分けできるというこのシステム。南治さんが、この機能を付けた理由とは？
「PSPの通信機能を生かし、アフィリエイト的な要素を取り入れたものが『一日先生体験』です。たくさんの人にお試しで遊んでもらいたいと思いまして。例えば、友達が遊んでる姿を見て面白そうだと思っても、試させてもらうのって難しいですよね。やった分だけ、その人のゲームが進んでしまいますから。それで、友達に『お試し授業』をおすそ分けできるようにしたんです。で、これのどこがアフィリエイト的かといえば、誰かのPSP 本体に『一日先生体験』を送ってゲームを宣伝してもらえれば、『★』がもらえるというトコロ。『★＝お金』なので、コスプレを買うお金がもらえる！ というわけです。より多くの友達に送ると「イイこと」が起こります。何が起こるかって？ それはやってみてのお楽しみです。『どこいつ』を気に入って友達に紹介してくれる人に対して、前々から何らかの形でお礼がしたかったんですよね。なので、今回ゲームの中に盛り込んでみました」
そう、これは、南治さんからファンへの「恩返し」なのだ。南治さんの人柄が伺えるエピソードだ。
制作者の南治さんだからこそ語れる『レッツ学校！』のマル秘お楽しみポイント。ちょっとトクした気分になれるココだけのお話を特別に公開！
「実は、画面にひと工夫してあるんです。自分で遊んでいる時に、画面が真四角であることがすごく気になったんですよ。カドが角張ってると、なんだか目に痛い気がしたし、どうしても人工的でトゲトゲした印象になってしまう気がして。だから、四隅から1ドットずつ抜いて、カドを丸く仕上げました。画面って、ゲーム本編とは関係ないように思えますが、ゲームをやっている最中は常に見続けるものですからね。『どこいつ』の世界観にしっくりなじむものにしたかったんです」
このことは南治さんのブログでも言及されている。なるほど、確かに画面をみれば、カドが丸くなっている。この情報はちょっとトクした気分かもしれない。 さらに、ローディング中にアウトする画面にもひと工夫があるとのこと。
「PSPで遊ぶ時、画面がブラックアウトするたびに自分の顔がそこに映り込むのがイヤだったんですよね。現実とは違う世界を楽しんでるのに、自分の顔が映ると我に返っちゃう（笑）。だから、今作では『レッツ学校！』のテーマカラーであるピンク色の画面にアウトするようにしました。黒い画面と違い、顔が映り込まないんですよ。テーマカラーがピンクなのは、入学式の桜をイメージしています。学校らしいでしょ？」
学校らしいといえば、『レッツ学校！』には、校歌まであるとのこと。なんとこの校歌、南治さんご自身の作詞作曲だそう。
「僕の作詞作曲って言われるとなんだかスゴそうですけど、奥さんの前で鼻歌を歌って楽譜にしてもらっただけなんですよね（笑）。でも、葛飾区の区民合唱団の方に歌ってもらったおかげで、ただの鼻歌だったものが超大作になったと思います（笑）」
ちなみに校歌は、ゲームをクリアした人だけが聴けるので、最後の最後に待っているお楽しみと言えそうだ。南治さんが鼻歌で歌っている姿を思い浮かべながら聴けるのは、コレを読んでいるアナタだけかも!?
新タイトルでは、アフィリエイト的な試みや RSS 配信の利用など、ネットで話題になりやすいようにたくさんの仕掛けをつくったという南治さん。そのアイディアは、日々の生活の中で感じたことがヒントになっているそう。
「『一日先生体験』は、あるゲームのつくりに感心したことがヒントになりました。初めて遊んでみた時、『タイトル画面から、お試し体験ができるんだ！』と、感心したことがキッカケなんです。それから、画面の四隅から1ドット取ろうという発想は、Mac のGUIに角丸が多用されているというトコロからヒントをもらいました。あとは、ゲームでも何でも、売れてるものはいろいろ試してみることにしていますね。『こういうのって、いいよね！』と感じた気持ちを大切にし、単なるマネじゃなくて、ウチの作品にどうつなげてどう伸ばしていくかをいつも考えています」
あらゆることを作品のアイディアへとつなげていく南治さんだが、今一番気になっているのは、ポッドキャストだそう。自分のブログでもこれからトライしてみたいことがあるんだとか。
「面白いことは何でもやってみたいので、ポッドキャストを生かせる方法はないかと考えています。ゲーム制作時にみんなでネタを出しあってる会話を流すとかね。それと、今まではファイルのアップロード機能を使用していませんでしたが、簡単なプログラムをアップロードできればいいな、と思っています。ゲーム制作を目指している人のためになればいいな、と。ブログそのものにも制作秘話などを書いていますが、それもまた次世代のクリエイターの参考になってくれれば、という気持ちもすこしはあるんですよ。そうそう、ブログを始めてからはデジカメを持ち歩くようになりましたね」
ゲームについて直接いろんな人の意見をもらいたいと考えているため、トラックバックはマメにチェックしているそう。
「つい最近では、『レッツ学校！』の RSS 配信で遊んでます！ というトラバをいただいたことが、とっても嬉しかったですね。それと、僕のブログのサイドバーには『トロのさんぽバナー』というものがありまして。リンク先の『どこいつ』サイトでゲットできるものなんですが、入手方法がちょっとわかりにくいんですよ。で、ある日のブログに『配布物』のところでもらえると書いたら、『私もできました！』というトラバがすぐに返ってきて。これも嬉しかったですねえ。トラバって、ナマの意見を聞けるから面白い。そりゃあ、ドキドキもしますけど（笑）。新しいことにどんどんチャレンジしていきたいので、もっともっといろんな人の感想を聞いてみたいです」

ブログが世の中に普及したことで、多くの人が自分の意見を発信できたり、それをまた多くの人が読んだりできるようになったと南治さんは考えている。ご自身でも、他の人のブログをよく読んでいるそう。
「ためになることや考えさせられることがとても多いです。最近よく読んでいるのはマイクロソフトの元会長の古川さんのブログです。テクノロジーに関することから社会への問題提起まで書かれていて、非常に質が高いと思います。それと、漫画家の竹熊さんのブログも好きですね。生徒さんが描いた漫画を一部掲載してる時がありましたが、読んでみると想像を絶する若い人の感性に衝撃をうけました。僕自身のブログは、ここ数年で流行している『社長ブログ』のようなイメージで書いています。『社長は、ブログで自分の会社をアピールするべきだ』と、ある人がブログに書いていたのに影響を受けまして（笑）。でも、プロモーション的な意味だけでなく、ゲーム制作者ってこんなことを考えてるんだ、ということを伝えるためにも書いています。ゲームつくるのって楽しそうだなとか、こういう気持ちでつくってるんだなとか、ゲームの向こう側にいる制作サイドがより身近になってくれればいいな、と。制作で悩んでいるところから、快心の出来に喜んでるところまで、かなりわかりやすく伝わってしまうと思います（笑）」
最後に、制作者として『レッツ学校！』を、どう遊んでほしいか聞いてみた。
「今回のタイトルをつくるまでは、コトバ遊びももう限界かな、と思う瞬間もありましたが、あらためて、『コトバをモチーフにしてもっと遊びの世界を広げていくことができる』という可能性を感じることができました。今までよりもさらに積極的に『コトバ遊び』にフォーカスしているので、プレイヤーのみなさんにはそれをとことん楽しんでもらえれば、と思っています」
コトバ遊びの新たな可能性にチャレンジしていく南治さん。ゲーム制作会社BeXideでは、新たなスタッフの募集もかけ、さらなる意欲を高めている。若く発想力のある人を育てていきたいと考えているそうなので、ゲーム制作への熱意がある人にとっては、今がチャンスかも!?

ファミコン時代の「平面感」が好きです。
『ドルアーガの塔』『レッキングクルー』といった、テクニックというよりも脳みそフル回転なゲームが大好きでした。
その後も色んなハードで、さまざまなゲームをプレイしましたが、ボタンがいっぱいあってどれがどの動きにつながるのかおぼえきれなかったり(苦笑)、やたらグラフィックがすごすぎて、見とれてる間にやられちゃったり、とクリアしたゲームなんてほとんどない気がします。
そう考えてみると、私のゲーム遍歴はファミコンでとまっているのかも…？
『どこでもいっしょ』は、プレイしたことがないのですが、そんなゲームオンチの私でも楽しめそうです。
